Holidays – Each of us should be fully convinced in his own mind?

The two Scriptures I hear most mis-applied to issues such as whether or not we should observe the Sabbath or so-called holidays like X-mess and Ishtar Day are Romans 14:5,6 and Colossians 2:16. So, I feel it is important to address them both here in a NOTE.

In context, the issue being discussed in Romans 14 was FOOD (vegetarians vs meat eaters) and what days some considered for fasting as opposed to the views of others on those matters. It was NOT about “picking and choosing” so-called holidays (some of which are blatantly contrary to the Word of God) :

Romans 14:

1 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since he gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains {from EATING – i.e. chooses to FAST},abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God.

Read that passage again. This is all about FOOD issues guys! And whether or not we should, for instance, eat meat on Friday or abstain during times such as during the TAMMUZ related Lent season as the Catholics do, following PAGAN traditions. This issue is still being discussed even to this day:

I’ve already addressed the Colossians 2 issue in another blog, so I’ll just post that link for you to consider here: Twisting and Distorting Colossians 2:16.

In conclusion:

I’d just like to ask, why is it that we are sooooooo willing to defend (with verses taken out of context) that which is clearly and demonstrably not of God, while totally disregarding the things He actually told us to do? Why will we vehemently argue in defense of our “right to choose” whatever days we want to celebrate, while completely and totally ignoring the days YHWH actually told us HE wanst us to celebrate?

I just don’t get it. But this I do get: When YHWH spoke through the prophet Amos, He – in no uncertain terms – lays out how He feels about your holidays…

Amos 5:12 For I know how many are your transgressions and how great are your sins—you who afflict the righteous, who take a bribe, and turn aside the needy in the gate.

Right now, just down the road from where I live, there is a 23,000 member Baptist “mega-church” putting on a $1 MILLION “Christmas Play” which (according to my son who at the invite of some friends went to see it) depicts more scenes of SANTA than the baby Jesus.

Yes, let this sink in folks – $1 MILLION spent on this crap: Don’t believe me? Read: Now, I ask, how many “needy” could have been helped at their “gate” with that $1 MILLION instead?? Combine that with ALL of the money from ALL of the churches around the world being WASTED on this lie and then read Amos 5:12 again before blasting “the righteous” for trying to stand for truth in this disgraceful “season” of gluttony and lies. Amos continues…

13 Therefore he who is prudent will keep silent in such a time, for it is an evil time.

14 Seek good, and not evil, that you may live; and so the Lord, the God of hosts, will be with you, as you have said.

15 Hate evil, and love goodand establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

How long will the church continue to defend lies, while rejecting the truth? Does not “love” rejoice in the truth” as Paul says in 1 Cor. 13? Are we not supposed to worship YHWH in Spirit and TRUTH as Yeshua said in John 4:24? How long will we continue to call evil good and good evil (Isaiah 5:20) in the name of our Lord and Savior? How long will we continue to imagine and pretend that YHWH doesn’t still feel the way about our golden calfs (Exodus 32), feasts and holidays done in His Holy Name?

21 “I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.

22 Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them.

23 Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen.

If the Church doesn’t start taking a stand for truth, how will the world ever receive it?

Stop Lying Church!
